Courageous Like Charlie and Lucy Likes To Dance:
Two Stories Of Overcoming Bullying
Meet Charlie and Lucy, two school friends who learn simple, life-changing techniques to overcome the effects of being bullied.
In Courageous Like Charlie, Charlie is a frightened young boy who is bullied by Bruce each day at school. With the help of his Mum, Charlie learns some life-changing techniques to dissolve his fears and negative effects of being bullied, enabling him to once again stride through the school gates, continue his learning, and have fun with the other children.
In Lucy Likes To Dance – Lucy is a young girl who confides in her friend Charlie about her fear of dancing in front of anyone, brought about by years of teasing from her brother Jack. Charlie teaches Lucy the same life-changing techniques his Mum taught him to overcome his bullying experiences at the hands of Bruce, which transforms Lucy into being able to dance in front of everyone with not a care in the world, having set herself free of her fear of judgement by others.
The Courageous Like Charlie and Lucy Likes To dance illustrated picture storybook is an opportunity for children to express their emotions and feelings in a safe space in the company of a parent, caregiver or teacher, learn how to identify and release unwanted beliefs and physical feelings, and replace them with empowering ones instead. This storybook is intended to encourage children to explore their emotions around bullying and provides a template for releasing fear and replacing it with confidence and self-belief.
